Two-year-old filly Catton Lady won on her first racecourse outing in the five furlong 'Newby Cross EBF Restricted Maiden Fillies' Stakes' this afternoon. Off the pace for most of the race she finished strongly to beat the 5/4 favourite Mauna Loa by a neck. She was returned at rewarding odds of 33/1.

She's a filly we've held in high esteem and has been a favourite of Joanna Mason's on the gallops.

Billy Garritty was the winning rider in the colours or Mr and Mrs Tinning and Mrs Wallis, who have had success in recent years with the likes of Casilli, Whitwell and Miss Brazen.

Catton Lady has been at New House Farm since she was a yearling. She was purchased from Tattersalls Sales in 2022 for £10,000. A well bred filly she is a half-sister to four winners, including four times winner Symposium, eight times overseas winner Orfeon and black-type filly Cosmic Love.

She'll be an exciting one to follow for the rest of the season.
