Congratulations to Joanna Mason who this afternoon rode her 50th winner of 2024. The winning ride was Jamih at Catterick for trainer Tina Jackson.

Joanna was a successful amateur rider before turning professional in 2020 and riding her first pro- winner aboard Marwari on New Year's Eve of that season.

Joanna has now earned over £1.7 million in prizemoney since turning professional, a decision made due to the lack of amateur opportunities due to the COVID-19 restrictions in 2020/21.

Joanna passed the 100 winner mark as an amateur and professional back in June 2022 aboard Grantley Hall at Redcar and the past two seasons have seen her ride winners in the Shergar Cup and the International Challenge in Saudi Arabia.

Since becoming a professional Jo has not looked back and has now passed the 40 winner mark in three consecutive seasons. Last year's campaign was interrupted due to two spells on the sidelines but this year she's been able to show her full potential and has clocked up her 50 winners in 399 rides at a strike rate of 13%. Joanna has ridden 124 times for us this year with 20 winners and a very commendable 16% success rate.

"It's been a great journey", said Joanna after the reaching today's landmark. "I really appreciate the kindness from everyone who has helped me get to this point in my career. Of course I have to thank Grandad and David, my agent Chris and all the other trainers who've shown their support by putting me up."

"People probably don't realise the work that goes in away from the racecourse. For a start there are the thousands of miles we have to put in on the road. It's tiring and the driving really takes it out of you but it has been worth it!"

"Most mornings I'm up at six and riding out for my Grandad and David by seven o'clock before heading off racing. Some days I'm not back home until after midnight."

"Last year was a tough one with two injuries and I missed the middle of the season, but I've come back stronger and hopefully wiser."

"My next goal is to ride my 100th winner for my Grandad and join a select bunch! If I can do it I'll be just the fifth rider to reach the century for him!"
