Runners at Brighton on Sunday ... and some history!

There's a long journey in store this weekend as we have two runners at Brighton on Sunday.

Two year old Acrisius and eleven year old The Resdev Way make the 300 mile trip south to East Sussex for Sunday afternoon racing by the sea.

The Resdev Way is the first up and he faces seven rivals in the 'Ring20 Better Lives With Epilepsy Amateur Jockeys' Handicap' where Serena Brotherton rides. Serena knows him well and often rides him out at home.

Acrisius lines up in a very small field of just four in the 'Ring20 Epilepsy 10th Anniversary EBF Restricted Maiden Stakes' over five and a half furlongs. Billy Garritty rides and he'll go well. He's the most experienced horse in the field and with a mark of 72 he is the only horse with a current BHA rating.

It took 35 years of training before we paid our first visit to Brighton and we were impressed and could not understand why we hadn't been before.

Our first ever runner at the track was a 10-1 winner in the shape of Sparky who took the opening Ringmer Selling Stakes in August 1996. Thankfully there was no bid at the subsequent auction and we took the horse back home afterwards.

The course is beautiful, breezy and has a lovely atmosphere.

It's five years since our last winner at Brighton which came in the shape of Maldonado in August 2019.

Sparky was our first winner at Brighton back in 1996.
