Four-year-old grey Hazy Glen won on his debut at Carlisle this afternoon. The meeting was in doubt this morning but survived a 9am inspection following over 30mm of rain overnight.

Relishing the conditions Hazy Glen plugged on up the hill to take the 'Rhino.Bet Home Of Charged Up Sport Open NH Flat Race' over seventeen furlongs.

The son of Lawman ran green in the early stages of the race but he asserted his authority in the last three furlongs and drew clear at the finish to defeat Get A Superstar by 5½ lengths.

Hazy Glen may have been a new name to racegoers but he was well known to us, having been at the yard for three years. A purchase from Tattersalls Yearling Sales as a yearling back in 2020, Hazy Glen is by Lawman out of Skyline Dancer and we also have his yearling half-sister by Almanzor who joined us from the Sales last week.

Today's winning jockey Billy Garritty has ridden 11 winners for the yard on the flat in 2023 and this was his first victory for us under his jumps licence.
