Mick & David Easterby: Racing Syndicates and Racehorse Ownership

Laura Mason Syndicate Update

Laura Mason Syndicate Update

Mon 20 Mar 2023Syndicates

The Laura Mason Syndicate includes shares in five racehorses for £100 a month. Membership includes the opportunity to watch the horses race with owners' badges and invitations to our exclusive open days, where we put on refreshments and members can join us for the morning and pick the brains of David and Mick about the horses, or for that matter about anything you like!

Laura Mason Syndicate membership is based on leasing, so there is no need to 'buy in' at the start. This keeps down the costs for the racing enthusiast who wants regular days out at the track.

Here is the latest on the Syndicate horses.

Hoots Toots

He is in good shape and not far off a run, he’s another year older at four so should be stronger this season. If we can find a race for him on the all-weather-in particular Southwell as he won there twice last season, then that’s where he will start before heading to the turf.

Hoots Toots

Ring Of Gold

Now six years old he looks fantastic and is in good order at home. Our newcomer for this year, he has run three times already on the all-weather and given us a pleasing second, third and fourth and he should have us in the winner's enclosure soon. He may have a run on the all-weather again before heading to the turf.

Ring of Gold

Copper Mountain

She gave us a lot of fun last season and has had 4 runs on the all-weather so far this year. David has decided to give her a bit more time between runs and we will be looking for another race for her come April.

Copper Mountain

Contrast

He had a bout of tummy ache last weekend meaning he had some easy days of rest, luckily he has recovered well and was seen on the gallops Saturday morning. He is the oldest member of the syndicate at nine years old and has raced at Newcastle this year finishing third. There will be better things to come from him this season on the turf.

Contrast

Refuge

We know he likes Hamilton and so that will be factored in at some stage when he gets going. He is nothing but consistent and should give us a lot of fun again this season.

Refuge

As Contrast stands at 100% there is talk of introducing a sixth horse into the team, when Mr. Easterby has decided. This could either be Dubai Instinct, a seven year old gelding who has great past form at local tracks and could potentially take us to York or an unnamed 3yo Dark Angel filly who is doing well in work at home.

All in all, an exciting season ahead and we are looking forward to it immensely.

Thanks,

Steph & the team
