It's been a long wait for owners Pellon Racing but after a mammoth 1078 days since seeing a racecourse Unplugged won the 'Wakefield Trinity Handicap' at Pontefract this evening. Under a perfectly judged ride by Shane Gray the six-year-old gelding came from off the pace to stay on strongly and collar stablemate Bavardages on the line.

Unplugged was bought out of Andrew Balding's yard at the Autumn Sales in 2019 and last raced in July of that year when finishing third of eight runners at Chepstow. It had been a long time off the track and to put it into perspective, his last run was long before anyone had even heard of Covid-19.

In a career beset by training problems the staff had worked hard to get the horse back onto the track, and of course none of this would have been possible without the patience of owners Pellon Racing.

Unplugged was returned at odds of 12/1 with Bavardages, ridden by Joanna Mason, sent off the 13/8 favourite.
