A homebred daughter of winner Gold Cheb and from a family of winners tracing back to My Old Dutch, Gold Key made her debut at Stockton in April 1981. She won the 'High Stile Maiden Stakes' at Carlisle in 1981. She ran 12 times and after her racing career she became a broodmare and was the dam of By The Glen. She was later sold to Trinidad and Tobago where she was the the dam of Golden Nuggle.
