Ginger's Lad was bred by Bill Tinning, and came to us to start a national hunt career. He finished down the field in bumpers and novice hurdles, but came into his own when he started jumping fences. After being placed in handicap chases he won his first race at Sedgefield in May 2010 ridden by Brian Hughes. More places followed before a second career win at Southwell in May 2011, this time ridden by Jake Greenall. Despite running consistently Ginger's Lad was not to win again and after running at Bangor in September 2013 he was retired from racing.

A horse with huge potential to perform outside of racing, he was taken on by New Beginnings, a wonderful charity which retrains ex-racehorses. He was to be known as 'Jack' and after a successful period of retraining he was rehomed with Mark Holmes.

Mark now takes up Jack's story.

"I got Jack through New Beginnings in Nov 2015. In which time we have done a bit of everything hunted, Sj, evented, dressage and showing. Last year he qualified for the RoR BE90 Grassroots Championship.

This year he has qualified for the RoR three phase challenge final, RoR BE Champs at 90 and 100 and got 7th at the GYS Retrained Racehorse class.

I'm hoping to run him at BE Novice by the end of the season and do Cuddy Workers in the future with him.

He just the best thing since sliced bread. I met both the Tinnings and Max who use to ride him out both were so pleased for him and said what a special horse he was, I couldn't agree more with them, top boy".
