Jaunty Flight: the elder rehome of 2024

As the year comes to a close we can reflect upon some wonderful rehome stories.

Twenty-two year-old year old former broodmare Jaunty Flight is enjoying her retirement in the north east with Katey. Katey has been a hero in 2024. She is the wonderful lady who loaned us Poco the foster mare earlier in the year.

Jaunty Flight won six races, including a Listed race, and also two point-to-points. After racing she had several foals, and her final foal is now here at the yard and he'll hopefully race in late 2025.

Following careers as a racehorse and a broodmare, Jaunty has now found herself a third vocation, as a carer.

Here Katey takes up the story.

"She is such a brilliant lady," says Katey. "A picture of elegance and grace! She conducts herself with such decorum, the rest are like little ruffians compared to her. She's really taken the little rescue under her wing. I ended up with a little three-year-old filly who was appallingly skinny but she's come on hugely already in the three weeks she's been here. Jaunty adores her, they're like mother and baby!"

"I can't thank you all enough for entrusting me with her. She's such a sweetheart and has firmly wedged her way into my heart. She's the kindest mare and loves her cuddles, just brilliant to spend time with."
