Moon Phase was born in Kentucky, USA by Darley and he was bred to be a great. By Rahy out of Japanese-bred Listed winner Noctilucent, he was originally trained by Luca Cumani. However, after showing little he was sent to Tattersalls Sales in Autumn 2006 where he was purchased for 3,500 guineas.

Purchased to run in the colours of Mr Walker and Lord Daresbury, Moon Phase finished runner up on his debut at Kelso in October 2007, beaten six lengths by Autumn Harvest. He was disappointing in his next two races, well beaten at Towcester and Wetherby before a more promising run at Market Rasen where he finished fourth of 15 runners.

Switching to hurdles, Moon Phase finished eighth at Aintree before what would prove to be his final race. Sent off at odds of 33/1 he lined up for a selling hurdle race at Market Rasen. Ridden by Dougie Costello he took a crashing fall at the first, an experience that knocked the confidence out of him. He was scheduled to run at Market Rasen again in August but when the race came around he wasn't right and instead he headed for the sales.

Moon Phase was sent to Goffs at Doncaster but unfortunately there were no bids and he wasn't sold. It was decided at this point to retire him from racing. His final career stats read six races, one place and £573 in prizemoney.

Moon Phase was later rehomed out of racing and he now lives with Sherri. He's a fine jumper and enjoys life, his racing days now long behind him.

Rahy (February 18, 1985 – September 22, 2011) was a Thoroughbred racehorse who competed in England and the United States.

Bred by Hill 'n' Dale Farms in Lexington, Rahy was a son of the very important sire Blushing Groom and out of the Eclipse Award winner and Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame mare Glorious Song.

Rahy was purchased as a yearling for US$2 million by Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum and brought to race in England for the 1987 season.
