Ring Of Gold begins next chapter at Camp after retraining

Five-time racing winner Ring Of Gold has settled seamlessly into his new home in County Durham with owner Lauren, quickly adapting to life after the track. Since retiring from racing in the summer, the thoroughbred has been enjoying a quieter pace in north-east England while keeping plenty busy.

"We went through a thoroughbred aftercare programme designed specifically for racehorses who have been in training or finished racing," said Lauren.

The new partnership is already off to a winning start, having picked up a pair of first-place rosettes at a local show at Holmside Hall. Next on the agenda is a long drive to Cheshire for a four-day Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) camp at Somerford.



"I'm really looking forward to it and I think Ringo will really enjoy himself," Lauren added.

"Ringo's so chilled about life, I can't ever believe he was a racehorse at any point."

The journey will be no issue for Ring Of Gold, who is well-accustomed to life in the lorry after clocking up thousands of miles traveling to racecourses such as Ayr, Hamilton, and Kempton Park during his racing career.

Proving to be just as much of a gentleman in retirement as he was on the course, Ringo is set to take camp life completely in his stride.
