We make a midweek trip to the seaside on Wednesday where Billy Garrity, Joanna Mason and Parthena Rose Sudlow take the rides.

Hope Of Acklam has shown plenty of ability and this son of the late stallion Calyx runs in the Happy Birthday Mark Holton Nursery Handicap. He steps up to a mile having been beaten a head here in a seller last month over seven furlongs. He will be ridden by Billy Garritty. Joining Hope Of Acklam is Diplomacy, who will be ridden by Joanna Mason. Well beaten in three starts to date he makes his handicap debut from a lowly mark of 52.
Skewsby showed much improvement when third at Chester earlier this month. He ran a good race against horses rated much higher, and he runs in the weatherbysshop.co.uk Novice Stakes. It's another tough assignment with the 76-rated Sheikhnshah setting the standard having finished third in each of his four starts to date.
Bravo Hotel faces just five rivals in the racingtv/freetrial Handicap over five furlongs. He returns from a two month break having finished tenth of 12 at York in July, where he showed early speed before weaking in the last two furlongs. We try a first time visor today to help him concentrate on the task at hand. The hat-trick seeking Sergeant Mayer is the one to beat here as Nigel Tinkler's five-year-old bids to defy a four pound rise in the ratings and add to his wins at Nottingham and Leicester.
Parthena Rose Sudlow will have her first ride as an amateur jockey in the AJA Novice Amateur Jockeys' Handicap, a race restricted to riders who had ridden no more then three winners at the start of the 2026 season. A work rider at the yard for several years, Parthena gained her amateur jockey's licence in August and and will ride Ganthorpe.

Ganthorpe hasn't troubled the judge since winning at Carlisle in May and becoming the fourth winning offspring of our broodmare Aetna. He's been dropped a pound in the ratings this week and so is ever so slightly wrong at the weights. There's little recent winning form on offer and Night Emperor's third, when beaten a length and a half here earlier this month, looks the pick of the recent action.
