Newcastle hold their biggest meeting of the flat season this weekend and on Friday we head to Gosforth Park where the Gosforth Park Cup is the feature race.

Stanage has been off the track for three months and he returns in the JenningsBet In Pelton Handicap where he'll be ridden by Joanna Mason. Last successful at Doncaster in March 2025 he's now nine pounds below his last winning mark and he's one from four on the all weather so we know he handles artificial surfaces.

A four-time winner last year he's now 25 pounds above the mark from which he kicked off his winning streak, although he's yet to score this year. A winner at Southwell last year he should also handle the tapeta track.

A winner last year at Ripon he went well last time at Hamilton when he just failed to catch Parisiac, going down by a head. He's four pounds above his last winning mark in a race where Ancient State, who was an easy winnner at Newmarket last time, is the one they all have to beat.
