Ganthorpe became broodmare Aetna's latest winner as he recorded a first career victory at Carlisle this afternoon in the colours of owner and breeder Brian Padgett.
Ridden by apprentice Lewis Chalkley the son of Dream Ahead took the Andersons - Proudly Local Since 1888 Handicap at the Cumbria track in a blanket finish. Racing from a lowly mark of 47 Ganthorpe got the better of co-favourite Auspicious by a neck with What A Tahoo a neck behind and then Saxon Grace a head further back in fourth.
Ganthorpe was returned at odds of 13/2 and was losing his maiden tag at the tenth attempt.
Ganthorpe's victory made it a 100% record for Aetna's racing offspring, joining Copper Mountain and Acrisius who have won for the stable and Ratafia, a five-time winner for trainer Michael Herrington. Aetna's first foal, Copper Reign, stands as a broodmare in Ireland and has produced foals by Ardad, Lope Y Fernandez and Footstepsinthesand.

The double came up an hour later as Glorious Kitty landed the first division on the Hoover - Performance That Lasts Handicap, making it two wins in her last two starts. The daughter of Cotai Glory was returned as the 9/4 favourite and followed up her maiden victory at Ayr just nine days ago.
Glorious Kitty's win gave jockey Lewis Chalkley his first career double and you can watch the race here.
