Spirit Of Acklam set for return at Ayr on Wednesday

Three-time winner Spirit of Acklam returns to the track on Wednesday as he lines up for the Schweppes Cherry Pepper Handicap at Ayr.

It's almost a year since the striking son of Cracksman last raced, finishing ninth of ten at Chester last May, and he'll make a welcome return on a track where he's won twice and been placed from just three visits.

Owned by Maxwell Morrison, Sprit Of Acklam is named after Maxwell's home village. He's a local favourite and we hope he can make a winning comeback as he heads north to Scotland.

Twelve horses have been declared for the nine furlong contest where Ayr specialist Cisco Disco bids for a fourth consecutive victory, although he is another horse with an absence to defy having been off the track for 233 days.
