Former yard favourite Refuge, who retired from racing last year, is now starting out on his new dressage career. A winner of seven races from 59 starts the son of Harbour Watch lives with Hazel in North Yorkshire and this year will join the ranks of ex-racehorses competing in ROR competitions.
"Refuge has done first dressage test in our ROR lesson what a superstar he was," says Hazel. "He is a legend and just wants to learn, we absolutely love him."
Refuge also attended his first ROR in-hand show on Sunday.
"We have a long way to go but the judge liked him," said Hazel. "He won't have seen anything like it and I was pleased how he settled and took everything in. He loves being plaited up and messed about with and he can only learn by going places. He is very special."
