Former Irish point-to-point winner Girl Friday will make her debut under rules at Wetherby on Friday.

The daughter of Elusive Pimpernel is out of a half-sister to last season's Cheltenham Festival winner, Myretown, making her a half-sister to two-time winner River Vale and five-time winner Abuffalosoldier. As a seven-year-old Abuffalosoldier (by Mahler) won the Grade 3 'Holland Cooper Handicap Chase' at Cheltenham in November 2024, but sadly died after crossing the winning line. He took the race from a career high mark of 131 and likely never reached his true potential.

Girl Friday made a winning start to her career on her point-to-point debut at Curraghmore in October 2025 where she was the sole newcomer in the four-year-old mares' maiden. Although having to give chase to the front pair turning into the home straight, she showed a great attitude to come alongside that pair in between the final two fences. Picking up again in good style to go clear after the last, she hit the line full to defeat a twice previously placed mare by two lengths.

Girl Friday was purchased for £45,000 by Old Gold Racing at Tattersalls November Sale at Cheltenham. She has since been syndicated with 2,850 shares being made available.

Tuesday will see Girl Friday run under rules for the first time when she lines up for the Entertain In Style At Wetherby Racecourse Mares' 'National Hunt' Maiden Hurdle over two miles and three and a half furlongs. Seven horses have been declared for the contest and the ground at Wetherby is currently good to soft.

It looks a good race at the West Yorkshire track with two of the runners rated over 100. The 111-rated Sallymore Lady has the highest official mark of those who have been assessed, whilst last-time out winner Joan's Choice looks a mare with plenty of potential. Her victory came in a bumper so she doesn't carry a penalty and meets the field at level weights.
