Well well well, what a day that was.

I forget how it come about, I think it was David set it up, but in March 2006 we had an unusual visitor to the yard. A beauty queen no less. In fact there were blooming two of them appeared.

Miss England, Hammasa Kohistani, and Miss York, Georgia Horsley, both called by the yard to have a look round and get their pictures taken.

They'd been invited to Dubai to see the World Cup by a wealthy property developer, the same feller that was responsible for creating the luxury World Islands on the coastline. She knew nowt about 'oss racing and I don't think she'd had a lot to do with 'osses so we passed on a few tips.

Hammasa came along with her pal Georgia and they were well made up by the yard although it was a miserable dreary day they chose. We had some grand horses at the time including probably the best we've had in decades, Gentleman's Deal. He was a feisty beggar and he tried to bite both of the young ladies in turn. He was second favourite to win the Lincoln at that point. He won the Group 3 Winter Derby and he sired a few winners too!

She was a clever lass was Miss England, she could speak six languages but Yorkshire wasn't one of them. I don't think she could understand a bloody word I said to her.
