Two-year-old gelding Alpha Magic scored at Thirsk under Billy Garritty this afternoon on his first racecourse outing. The son of Ardad took the six furlong 'British EBF Restricted Novice Stakes' to become the latest winning offspring of broodmare Piece Of Magic.

Alpha Magic had been friendless in the market, drifting out to 40/1 before surging home to collar even money favourite American Style by half a length in the last half furlong.

Alpha Magic is a half-brother to ten-time winner Where's Jeff, who this year passed the £100,000 prizemoney landmark. He races in the red and white 'Where's Jeff' silks of owner Andrew Pollock, who is delighted to have found another star. Andrew has previously owned plenty of winners including Roller, Rolladice and Gulf Of Poets, but Where's Jeff and now his younger sibling hold a special place in his heart!
