Four at Musselburgh for today's 2025 flat finale

Musselburgh hold their last flat meeting of the season this afternoon as we send horses to East Lothian.

We field two in the EBF Restricted Maiden Stakes, a race restricted to horses in Bands C and D. Top Lad finished fourth to Control Room at Catterick last week and he'll be ridden by Billy Garritty. He's joined by filly Duchess T who will have her third racecourse outing, having been beaten 13½ lengths by Iceni Queen at Nottingham last time. Lewis Chalkley takes the ride. The standard in the race is set by the 79-rated Blakefell who ran well in a valuable sales race at Newmarket in October.

Carolus Magnus ended a four year losing run last month when successful over today's course and distance. He was disappointing when attempting to follow up at Newcastle and returns to turf at Musselburgh for the Musselburgh Annual Membership 2026 Handicap. All of his three career wins have been on good or good to firm ground and more rain might not help his cause. Joanna Mason takes the ride.
