Action Pact loves a slog in the mud and today he won for the first time when taking the racingtv.com Bluff Cove Handicap at Pontefract Park.

The four-year-old son of Golden Horn had been third last time at Chester over two miles and appreciated the extra couple of furlongs as he came home two and a quarter lengths to the good over Ruler Legend. Hitting the front two furlongs out he stayed on strongly and showed that his stamina was never in doubt.

All smiles at Pontefract today.

Action Pact was winning in the colours of Andrew Pollock as Joanna Mason recorded her 16th winner of 2025 for the yard.

"He's a very nice horse and he's got better as he's gone further", said trainer Mick Easterby after the race. "We bought him as a foal four years ago and it's been a matter of being patient. He was always going to be a horse who needed a trip. We've always liked him and we've got some very nice Golden Horns still to come."

Action Pact will be a popular horse when he gets back to the stable tonight as part of the winning prize was a huge sack of carrots to share with his friends!
