Eastern Ember made her debut at Thirsk in May 1988. She won a seller at Thirsk in April 1989 and followed up by winning at Chester the next month. Eastern Ember was moved by her owner to trainer CC Elsey later in May 1989 after being beaten at Thirsk and failing to complete a hat-trick.
